Crystal and her husband Bill never had any biological children but they did foster a few children, including their "foster" daughter Patricia Lea Robbins who came to them at age 9 and was in their life until their passing. They also had a "foster" granddaughter, Dale Conklin, whom they had a large part in raising.
Crystal loved to sing and wanted to pursue it professionally but was unable to due to having one lung removed. She was always singing and humming around the house. She loved to watch Lawrence Welk and to jitterbug with her granddaughter, Dale.
