Elizabeth went by the name of "Betty." She died at the age of 84. She was the daughter of Erenestine (Jones) Pernell and Frank Foster. At an early age she moved from Greenville, South Carolina to West Palm Beach, Florida where her mother raised 4 children and was the Society Editor of the Palm Beach Post Newspaper for many years. Betty was a Cheerleader at the Palm Beach High School, also a member of the Chi Delta Rho Sorority and won numerous beauty contests. She was crowned "Sundance Queen" at the Annual Palm Beach Festival. She was an active member in the American Society of Antaiago, Chili for 4 years when her husband was in the Air Attache in the American Embassey. She belonged to many womens clubs in Washington D.C. and Falls Church, Virginia. She was later active in the Childrens Day Nursery of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was also past President of the Southern Belles Garden Club which is also in Tulsa.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Neill Camp Mackay and by her three sons, Dr. Douglas Sammons of O'Fallon, Missouri, Michael Mackay of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Jeffrey Mackay of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She has three grandsons, Jeff and Chris Sammons and Cory Mackay, and a granddaughter, Beth Heard, who with her husband are Baptist Missionaries in Russia.
