Mrs. Bertha Wilken, 83, of Walla Walla died at a local hospital Sunday.

Born March 1, 1887 in Decoria, Minn., Mrs. Wilken had lived in that area until moving to Spokane at the age of 14. She married John H. Wilken June 11, 1907 in Spokane. They later moved to Walla Walla where Wilken was associated with the Walla Walla Valley Railraod for 31 years and was later on the custodial staff as the Washington State Penitentiary for 14 years. He died in Decemeber 1961. Mrs. Wilken was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, the Dorcus Circle, Washington Park Community Association and the Golden Agers.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Helen) Fisher of Walla Walla; a son, Maj. (Ret.) Harold W. Wilken of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; and two sisters, Mrs. Clara McCreary of El Segunda, Calif. and Mrs. Harry (Selma) Norris of Spokane. Four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Marshall-Herring chapel with Pastor William Foege of Emmanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. [Actually buried in Mountain View Cemetery]
