Funeral services for Alton G. Schieler, 69, a lifetime area resident, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 1980 at the Apostolic Christian church in Fairbury, of which he was a member, with ministers of the church officiating.
Burial was in South Apostolic Christian cemetery. Duffy-Pils Memorial home in Fairbury was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Schieler, a retired farmer, died at 11:40 p.m. Wednesday in Carle Foundation hospital where he had been transferred last Friday from Fairbury hospital. He had become ill in the hospital two days earlier while visiting a friend.
He was born Nov. 23, 1910 in Fairbury, a son of Jacob and Anna Gahwiler Schieler. His marriage to Sally Pasternoster occured on his birthday anniversary in 1936 in Pontiac.
He is survived by his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Marlene Kuperschmid of Forrest; Donna, at home; Mrs. Sandra Stoller of Fairbury; and two sons, Harvey and Duane, both of Fairbury.
Also surviving is one brother, Sam of Deer Creek plus 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Preceding him in death were one brother, two sisters and one grandchild.
Memorials may be made to Fairview Haven or to a charity of the donor's choice.
