Donald Allen Christensen, 74, passed away on Aug. 20, 2013, at the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston, Idaho. He was born Jan. 6, 1939, in Preston, Idaho, to Allen Henry and Pearl Hulse Christensen.
He worked 42 years for J.B. Parson Companies in various positions in the asphalt batch plant and crusher. He helped build roads in Idaho, Utah, Nevada and Wyoming. He was also an oiler during the hauling of sugar beets during the winter time in Nampa, Idaho and Nyssa, Oregon from 1982-1992. He could just about fix anything he set his mind to. He rebuilt crushers and four different types of dryers that took the moisture out of gravel and sand to meet state highway specifications. He also drove a roller to compact freshly laid asphalt.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served three missions microfilming and digitizing old important records in the states of Maine, Washington and Idaho.
He married Sharol Petersen in Lewiston, Utah on May 12, 1967. They later divorced. He married Jeanette Owen on Jan. 10, 1992, in the Logan Utah Temple.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette, of Preston; two daughters, Dawna (Jason) Hall of Preston; DeeAnna (Scott) Asay of Sidney, Montana; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, six brothers and sisters, DeeVirle (Elizabeth) Christensen, Clare E. (Linda) Christensen, Royce H. (Lorraine) Christensen all of Preston; Clarice (Jim) Fiechko of Farmington, Utah; VerNeal (Wayne) Lowry of Tooele, Utah; and Dorothy (Larry) Sheard of Longview, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, Lars Henry & Serena Christensen and William & Charlotte Hulse, and by a great-grandson, Demetri Schvaneveldt.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in the Whitney Second Ward Chapel, 1444 South 1600 East, Whitney, Idaho with Bishop Jim Summers conducting. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, Preston, Idaho and Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Mink Creek, Idaho Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all the doctors and nurses, too numerous to mention, who have taken such good care of him during his long illness.
