Her mother died in 1897, and her father died in 1899, so in 1900 she was living with her married sister, Margie Lawrence Dees, in St. Louis, Missouri. By 1910, she had married James T. Moorehead, and they had a daughter, Mona Beatrice Moorehead. By 1920, they had moved to Central, Union, New Mexico, and they had a son, James T. Moorehead, Jr., who was 7 years old and Mona was 9 years old. In 1926, Mr. Moorehead passed away, so by 1930, Ethel was living in El Paso, Texas with her two children and was working in a doctor's office.

Ethel Lawrence Moorhead married Edward B Killion in Graham County, Arizona on May 8, 1942. Edward B Killion (born August 13, 1874 in Iowa) died on January 26, 1959 in Los Angeles, California. Ethel passed away in Los Angeles in 1976. She was buried with her first husband, James T. Moorehead, and her son, James T. Moorehead, Jr., in the Masonic area of the Concordia Cemetery in El Paso.
