The Valdosta Times February 21, 1935:
Roy Hightower former Valdostan but for the past ten or more years a resident of West Palm Beach, Florida died at his home in that city yesterday afternoon after an illness of about two weeks.
The body will arrive in Valdosta tonight and funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 4 0'clock from McGowan-Giddens funeral home. Rev. C.M. Meeks pastor of the First Methodist Church will officiate.
Interment will be in Sunset Hill.
Mr. Hightower is survived by two sons and two sisters Mrs. J.J. Dasher of this city and Mrs. R.C. Stapler of Waycross.
Mr. Hightower was reared in Valdosta and spent his young manhood here. He moved from here to Macon where he lived for about ten years moving from there to West Palm Beach about 1925.
A number of relatives and friends in this section will be saddened by news of his death.
