Funeral services for Alice Lucille Sagmoen, 89, of Tyler, MN were held Tuesday, January 20, 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Tyler.
Officiant was Pastor Larry Wiederich.
Interment was at Bethany Cemetery, Murray County.
Almlie Funeral Home of Balaton is handling the arrangements.
Alice Lucille Sagmoen was born June 7, 1914 to Albert and Jennie (Himan) Anderson in Havelock, IA. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended both country school and Slayton Public School. As a young girl she worked for several area farms doing cooking and cleaning. Following her mother's death she concentrated her efforts at home for her father and brothers.
February 14, 1936 Alice married Walter J. Sagmoen at the Lutheran parsonage in Slayton. They made their home on a farm south of Garvin, MN and after a short time living in Worthington, MN and Currie, MN they moved into Garvin in 1954. After retirement in 1989 they moved to Tyler, MN and shortly after her husband's death Alice moved into the New Vista Apartments in Tyler in 1996.
Alice was a past member of the Lake Sarah Lutheran Church in Garvin where she had been very active and a current member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tyler. A housewife all her life, Alice enjoyed cooking and baking. She also enjoyed crafts, sewing, playing cards and board games with family and friends, and music, especially playing the piano.
April of 2003 Alice became a resident of the Sunrise Manor in Tyler where on Saturday, January 17, 2004 she died at the age of 89.
Alice is survived by one son, Wayne (Donna) Sagmoen of Burnsville, MN; two daughters: Ruth Nelson of Slayton, and Karen (Dennis) Keifer of Tyler; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Bertha Lien of Hutchinson, MN and Edna Coyle of Minneapolis, MN; many nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; six brothers and one sister.
