He was the son of John and Sarah Adams and brother of Enoch George Adams (1849 YC) was born in Edgartown, MA, July 22, 1826 and entered the Class of 1849. In the fall of 1850 he was engaged in teaching in Durham, NH in the spring of 1851 in Madbury and from May 1851 till February 1853 in New Market of the same state, as Principal of the High School. During this time he was also engaged in administering upon and managing his father's estate in Durham and was most of the time Superintendent of the schools in that town. From 1853 to 1857 he was principal of the High School in Holyoke, MA editing during that time the "Holyoke Independent" and "Our Little Pet", papers published in Holyoke. His health failing, he went to Lawrence Kansas in the spring of 1857 at which place he was correspondent of the "Boston Traveler" and the "Springfield Republican". He died of consumption in Lawrence on October 16, 1857 and was buried in Durham NH. He was married to Nellie M. Branscombe of New Market, NH on May 26, 1853 and had one child Arthur born in 1854.
