Arlin C. Dennis, 92, longtime resident of Fairfield, Wendell and Boise, died August 17, 2013 of natural causes.
Arlin was born June 16, 1921 in Hagerman, Idaho, to Arthur I. Dennis and Nettie Condit Dennis. He was raised in Hagerman and graduated in 1939. Arlin married Theresa (Tess) Leek on June 7, 1945 in Fairfield, Idaho. Both were teachers at Camas County High School.
Arlin earned Master's degrees in Natural Science and Education from the University of Idaho. He was proud to be a lifelong Vandal. Arlin and Tess lived near the Leek homestead on Soldier Creek and raised three sons. In addition to being a popular teacher, he coached basketball and football and worked on the family ranches. He was superintendent of King Hill Schools.
In 1959, they moved to Wendell where Arlin was principal at Wendell Elementary school for 19 years. Later, Arlin was principal in Heyburn Elementary for 4 years. He retired in 1981 after 38 years.They moved to Boise in 1992.
Arlin enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and nice cars. He relished life with a fun sense of humor. Arlin dearly loved his family. He was a loving husband, a mentor for his sons and their spouses, and a hero for his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, his brother, Harry (Lena)Dennis, his sons and their spouses; Kelly (Janet), Kirk (Carol) and Kip (Gwen). Also seven grandchildren: John (Kate) Dennis, Amanda (Luke) Morgan, Kaylin (Brady) Thompson, Philip (Heidi) Dennis, Patrick (Waive) Dennis, Kimberly Dennis and Andrew Dennis. He was "Grandpa Great" to Gretchen and Ethan Morgan, Finn Dennis and Tessa Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and his sister.
A special thanks to his caregiver Beverly Cusimano and hospice. Those wishing to make a contribution in Arlin's memory may donate to the Hagerman Historical Society Museum at P. O. Box 86, Hagerman, 83332, or a charity of their choice . A graveside memorial will be held the Hagerman cemetery at 10:00 am on August 24,
