Sgt Beverly B "BB" Stroup married his first wife,Savanah, 14 December 1854, in Noxubee County, Mississippi. He was an officer in the Confederate States Army, as well as a merchant and a farmer. They had six children: Bettie, Carrie L, Walter W, Annie M, Martha "Mattie", and Savannah "Vanie" Stroup. The Stroup family appeared on the 1860 US Census in Clarke County, Mississippi.

Savanah Judon Stroup died, 27 June 1869, aged 32, in Brooksville, Mississippi, and was buried at Soule Chapel Cemetery in Macon, Mississippi.

His first wife was Savanah when her youngest baby was one year old. Susan was living with the Stroup family and married BB. They had two children, Lida and Reeder. He died in 1880's.
He was Married to his second wife, Susan Giles "Sue" Kirk Stroup. She is buried in Wallisville, Chambers County, Texas. She moved from Bryan, TX and 1898 she went to Wallisville where his parents were living. She is unmarked grave.
