1880 at Gardner, MA: Hiram Wood, 68, works in chair shop, wife, Charlotte, 59, and boarders, Hattie Gates, 23, Jennie Gates, 21, Clara Hyde, 20, and Ida Davis, 18. The previous four ladies were all cane shop workers.

1900 at 23 Central St. in Gardner, MA: Herbert D. Burnam (Burnham), 40, oil & gas stove manufacturer, wife, Etta M., 37, brother, Clarence A. Burnam, 32, machinist at a chair shop, sister-in-law, Gertrude M., 29, and a boarder, Harriet M. Gates, 42, stenographer. This address does not exist today.

1910 at 13 Park St. (renter) in the Florence village of Northampton, MA: Harriet M. Gates, 53, cashier at a cabinet factory.

1920 at 7 Walnut St. in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Boston, MA: Harriet Gates, 62, cashier at an oil & gas stove company. She was listed, along with nine other fellow lodgers at this address, on a supplemental census form. [Pretty sure this is the right lady. Harriet's obituary mentioned she lived in Boston before she passed away. The only problem found was that her middle initial on this census was a W instead of an M but it might have been a mix-up with the lady below her whose name was also Harriet.]
