In 1850 (census data), Lee (14) and his family were living in Jefferson County.
In 1860 (census data), Lee (22) was still living with his parents in Cocke County between Newport and White Pine. His at-home siblings were James, Francis, William and Isaac.
Lee served in the Civil War as a Confederate soldier. After the war, he married Martha Stuart in Cocke County, where they raised their family.
In 1880 (census data), "Leo" (42) and Martha (37) were living in the Dutch Bottoms Community. Their children were Adaline (15), Mary (11), Lucinda (8), Sarah (6) and John (1).
Lucinda married Arthur Bryant, son of Brummit Bryant Jr.
In 1900 (census data), Lee (61) and Martha (56) were living just south of Newport. Other members of the family were John (21), Martha (16), Rhoda (12) and grandmother Fannie at a reported age of 85.
Lee died June 19, 1909 in Cocke County and was buried in the Pleas Morris Cemetery.
In 1910 (census data), after Lee's death, his widow Martha (67) was still living in their home south of Newport with daughter Rhoda, who later married George Washington Allen (son of W. C. "Bill" Allen and Jane Hannon, buried in Morris Cemetery).
[Lee's sister Catherine is also buried in the Morris Cemetery. She first married Mark Bailey, who died in the Civil War. Her second marriage was to the Rev. Marion Free.]
