PAROWAN LOSES ANOTHER AGED CITIZEN
At the age of 90 years and a few days, Mrs. Ann Munford Gunn, much respected citizen of this place, and beloved mother and grandmother, passed to her final rest at 6:30 in the evening of April 30th at her residence here. Mrs. Gunn has not had good health for many years and it has been known for some time that death would be her only relief so the end was not expected.
She was born on April 24, 1832 in the old country.
She crossed the ocean in a sailing vessel in 1863 and after a seven weeks trip across the plains, landed in Parowan on November 1st of the same year.
The next year she was married to George Gunn whose death in 1876 left her a widow and the mother of six children, four of whom, together with twenty-one grand children, thirty one great grand children, and one great great grandchild survive her.
She was much pleased over the celebration of her 90th birthday on April 24, when about 20 immediate friends and relatives called on her on that occassion.
Funeral services were held in the LDS Church on Tuesday May 2nd, at which the speakers were John Stevens, John W. Bentley and M.M. Decker. Mrs. Gunn's favorit hymn, "O My Father" was sang by Fred C. Graham, a famous Utah tenor who chanced to be in Parowan.
