Mrs. Roy Codner Dies at Detroit
Rites for Prominent New London Woman Wednesday
New London, Ia – Funeral services for Mrs. Roy Codner, who died Sunday at noon at Detroit, Mich., will be held Wednesday morning at nine o’clock at St. Alphonsus Catholic church in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. M.T. Gaffney in charge, assisted by the Rev. Father Vogt of the West Burlington Catholic church. Burial will be in Burge cemetery.
Frances Genevieve Hennessee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hennessee, was born March 10, 1889, at New London where she spent her entire life. On Nov. 29, 1906, she was married to Roy Codner at Mt. Pleasant.
Of their three children, one daughter, Mary May, died in 1917, at the age of 21 months. Surviving are the husband, a son, Virgil of Burlington and a daughter, Mrs. Burdette Poulin, of Detroit, her aged parents, three brothers, and three sisters, John and Michael and Mrs. Mary Sullivan of New London, Roy and Mrs. Catharine Morrow of Mt. Pleasant, and Mrs. Nelle Calhoun of Cedar Rapids.
Mrs. Codner, well known in New London and Henry County, was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic church at Mt. Pleasant, and of John See chapter , D.A.R. of New London.
She left two weeks ago for Detroit to be with her daughter, an expectant mother. Mrs. Codner was taken suddenly ill the following Friday and fell into a coma. She died Sunday noon at 12:35 in Providence hospital at Detroit where her daughter is now a patient.
