Doris M. Davis, 91, of Scottsbluff, died August 14, 2013 at her daughter's home with her family by her side. Memorial services will be August 19, 2013 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory. Inurnment will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Doris was born September 17, 1921 near Whitman, NE to Albert and Grace(Field)Berzina. She loved to ranch, ride horseback, dance, work in the hayfields and be with her family. Doris graduated high school from Scottsbluff in 1940. Doris received training in mechanics and went to work for Quaker Ordnance Plant making bombs for the war efforts in 1943, and also in the ship yards at Puget Sound, WA. Later she owned and operated Roy's Open Pit BBQ in Scottsbluff. In 1979, Doris went to work as a long distance telephone operator for United Telephone Company until she retired in 1987. She then worked part time as a foster grandparent at Regional West Medical Center and Westmoor Elementary school until May 2011. She then got to enjoy what she loved the most, her family and friends. Doris was a dedicated mom, sister, grandma and great grandma. She taught good work ethic and how to love.Doris is survived by her beloved brother Albert "Bud" Berzina, son Larry (Frankie) Davis, daughter Dixie Davis, grandsons: Terry (Anapaula) Davis, and Mason Carlson; granddaughters: Tammy (Bill) Thorvilson, Mandy (Mike) Schmidt; great grandchildren: Brittany Carlson, Kirstin Carlson, Angelo Schmidt, Jake Schmidt, Nichole Davis, Gregory Davis, and Ella Carlson and special friend Donna Tooley.She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Florence and Marjorie, sister-in-law Pat Berzina and nephews: Ronnie Bales, Carl "Buzzy" Bales and Bill Burr.
