Funeral services for Mr. Cortez Garrett, 89, will be held at 1:30 p.m. today, Oct. 13, 2003, at Beech Springs Baptist Church in Minden with the Rev. Ronnie Whitlock officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Garrett passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, at Minden Medical Center. He was born Jan. 3, 1914, in Bienville Parish. He has lived in Webster Parish for many years. He was a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, and he and his wife served the church as secretary/treasurer for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary G. Garrett of Minden; two brothers, J.B. Garrett of Fryeburg, W.J. Garrett of West Monroe; one sister, Annie Ruth Matzko of Fairfax, Va.; four nephews, Richard Garrett, Bruce Garrett, Larry Garrett, and Rodney Matzko; and three nieces, Martha Strickland, Elaine Hertlein and Julia Matzko.
