Freida Belle Uzzel
July 7, 1924 - August 5, 2013
Freida Belle Uzzel, 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 5, 2013 in Louisville, Colorado. She was born July 7, 1924 in Greeley, Colorado and was raised in San Bernardino, California. In 1942 she met Richard Uzzel at church and married him soon after. It was a wonderful union that lasted 61 years. Freida and Richard lived in Placerville for 22 of those years, during which she worked as a loan officer for Bank of America on Main Street. She sang in the choir, played the piano and organ, taught Sunday School classes, and was active in the Women's Circle at the First Baptist Church (now Cold Springs Community Church) where Richard once served as pastor.
Freida was preceded in death by her husband Richard Uzzel, her parents Wilbern and Nancy Southerland of San Bernardino, and her sister Lulu Downer of Yucapia, California. She is survived by her sister Myrtle Plummer of West Point, California, her three children, Sharon Young of Redmond, Washington, Rhonda Perry of Boulder, Colorado, and Larry Uzzel of Boise, Idaho and their spouses, and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 24 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cold Springs Community Church, 2600 Cold Springs Road, in Placerville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
