Civil War Veteran. Enlisted Company E OH 29th Infantry Regiment on 9/27/1861. Promoted 12/22/1863 and promoted to full first sergeant on 6/29/1865. Mustered out 7/13/1865. He filed for a pension on 6/7/1889 and his widow filed for a pension on 5/6/1902.

William G. Buss was a native of Canada and an early settler of Conneaut, where he engaged in the lumber business for a number of years. He served with the 29th Ohio Infantry during the Civil War and was in service for four years and nine months. Mr. Buss was a Republican, a member of the Baptist Church, and belonged to the Grand Army of the Republic and the Masonic lodge. He died March 26, 1901. He had five children, as follows: Henry A., Jennie, Don Alfred, Lee, and Anna.
