Salley Rutledge Carr, 71, of Beaufort, SC passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Coastal Carolina Medical Center.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 17, 2013 from 2-3pm at Anderson Funeral Home.
She was born in Aiken, SC on March 14, 1942 to Eulalie Salley Rutledge and Thomas P. Rutledge.
Salley was an animal lover who also enjoyed boating, fishing, horse races and being at the beach as well as knitting. She attended the University of South Carolina and was a Charter Member of the South Carolina Aquariam.
She is survived by her son Thomas J. Carr (Cyndy Carr) and step children; James Carr (Dawn), Stephen Carr, Jean Carr and Cindy Carr. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Andrew Rutledge Carr and Lillian Reese Carr and her step grandchildren; Patrick Carr, Brian Carr, Laura Brodie and Elizabeth Brodie.
Salley is preceded in death by her former husband, Dr. William S. Carr, DVM and step son, David Carr.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in her name to Hunting Island Sea Turtle Conservation Project, 2555 Sea Island Parkway, Hunting Island, SC 29920 or to the American Cancer Society, 11 Mallett Way, Suite 301, Bluffton, SC 29910.
