TEXAS CITY - George Morris Simmons. 61, died Friday at home. Service will be at 10 a.m. today at Emken-Linton Funeral Home, the Revs. Lloyd Chittenden and Bobby Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Grace Memorial Park Cemetery. Alta Loma.
Mr. Simmons was born Sept. 5 1925, in Corsicana: he was retired from Marathon Oil where he worked in the electrical department. He was music director and member of Freeway Missionary Baptist Church, La Marque.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Simmons of Texas City; his stepmother. Lura Bazar of Henderson; two sons, Billy G. Simmons and Neal Simmons of Texas City; two daughters, Carol Dawson of Texas City and Patricia Norris of Pasadena: seven brothers, the Rev. Jack Simmons, John Simmons. Roy Simmons. Norman Simmons, all of Henderson, the Rev. Ralph Simmons of Orange, Charlie Ray Simmons of Tyler and Michael Simmons of Lufkin; four sisters, Juanita James of Cleveland, Ina Rowell. Sybil Burkes and Judy Gilstrap, all of Henderson; nine grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild.
Pallbearers will be George Dawson, John Norris, Elzie Arriola, Sonny Reeves, Jimmy Simmons and John Stokes.
