James Arthur "Jim" Rainbolt, 84, passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in downtown Fort Worth, followed by a reception at Colonial Country Club. A private burial will precede the memorial service. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice or Cook Children's Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Fort Worth, Jim was born Dec. 1, 1928, son of James Roy Rainbolt and Marie Hanks Rainbolt. He graduated from Arlington Heights High School and attended the University of North Texas, where he was a star basketball player and later a member of the Ex-Lettermen's Association. Prior to graduating from college, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, then returned to the University of North Texas for his degree. In 1968, Jim founded Tarrant Concrete Co. and was president and owner until he passed the reins to his son, James. He was a member of the Texas Aggregate and Concrete Association and the Breakfast Tip Club. In 1997, he was honored with the Green Glory Award for his dedicated service to the University of North Texas. He was a huge fan and supporter of Texas Christian University and proud owner of "The Frogmobile." Jim's generosity and his willingness to help others made him loved by all. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and cook. He enjoyed spending time at Possum Kingdom Lake, browsing farmers' markets, hosting music-filled parties and traveling. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jo Ann Rainbolt; and his wife, Quinby Perry Rainbolt, with whom he traveled the world during their 30 years of marriage. Survivors: His sons, James Edward Rainbolt and wife, Conor, of Fort Worth and Keith Jordan and wife, Angie, of Dripping Springs; daughters, Hallye Jordan and husband, Ed Manavian, of Sacramento, Amy Smith and husband, Mixon, of Fort Worth and Emily Hughes and husband, T.R., of Fort Worth; brother, Robert Rainbolt and wife, Joan, of La Jolla; and his grandchildren, James Christopher Rainbolt, Ryan Rainbolt and Tate Jordan.
