Flossie was the daughter of Valingham ("Val") Cox and Julia Arn. Flossie's younger sister, Nina, married Clyde Embers, and in the 1950 census, single 51-year-old Flossie was living in her 49-year-old sister's and brother-in-law's household in California. In 1957, Nina died and in July 1964, Flossie married her widowed brother-in-law, Clyde Embers, in Nevada.
