Marian M. Stonerook, 85, Duncansville, went home to be with her sons and her Lord Tuesday at Golden Living Center-Hillview after an extended illness.
She was born in Sonman, daughter of the late Ralph H. and Clara Alice (Morgan) Dunmire. She married Galen L. Stonerook on Jan. 31, 1949, in Cumberland, Md. Marian's mother died when she was young, and she was then raised by her older sister, Betty Spangle and husband, Mart.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters: Sandra Cogan (David) of Duncansville and Sally Calhoun (Barry) of New Enterprise; two daughters-in-law: Ruth Stonerook of Duncansville and Shirley Stonerook of Allentown; seven grandchildren: Robin Reckner, William and Brian Cogan, Ricky Stonerook Jr., Brandon and Steven Calhoun and Brent Stonerook; three great-grandchildren: Ashley and Zachary Stonerook and Kendra Reckner; a sister, Ethel Rutherford (Fred) of Altoona; and four step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two beloved sons: Rick in 2010 and William in 2011; two sisters: Betty Spangle and Sara Nicewonger; and three brothers: Clyde, Harry and William Dunmire.
Marian was a 1946 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and retired from G.C. Murphy in 1990. She was a member of Hicks Memorial United Methodist Church, Duncansville, where she was in the Genesis Sunday school class. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles and spending time with her family. She and her husband were foster grandparents at the Frankstown YMCA Children's Center for 10 years.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at Liebegott-Brown Funeral Home Inc., 1218 Fourth Ave., Duncansville, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at Hicks Memorial United Methodist Church, Duncansville, the Rev. Rich Morris officiating. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
