Mrs. Carolyn Melvalene Daugherty was called home, to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 29, 2009, surrounded by her loving family.
She was a member of Cove Road Primitive Baptist Church in Oliver Springs, TN.
Mrs. Daugherty was retired from Lakeshore Mental Hospital. She had an unmeasureable love for family and all those she came into contact with. She was fondly known as Granny to many children of all ages.

She was preceded in death by her husband: James (J.W.) Daugherty; son: James Pearson Daugherty; granddaughter: Jennifer Nicole Jones; parents: Daisy and Melvin Massengill; sister: Novella Armes; and nephew: Ralph (Peanut) Massengill.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law: Sherry and Arthur Worbington of Gainesboro and Kim and Mark Norman of Petros; son: John Daugherty and Anita of Petros;
Grandchildren: Jeremiah and Daniel Norman, Amanda, Jamie, and Baby James Daugherty, Tyler (T.J.) Daugherty, and Tonya and Greg Hamlet;
Great-grandchildren: Bradley Hamlet, Aiden and Andrew Reynolds, and Amelia;
Step-grandchildren: Tim Rice, Jason and Natalia Rice, Crystal and Tim Ingram;
Step-great-grandchildren: Parker and Landon Ingram and Emiliegh Rice, all of Oliver Springs; Sister and brother-in-law: Geraldine and Jerry Melhorn of Wartburg;
Brothers and sisters-in-law: Everett and Nancy Massengill of Kingston, Ralph and Shirley Massengill of Townsend, Glen (Motto) and JoAnn Massengill, Gary and Gail Massengill, both of Stephens; brother-in-law: Randall Armes of Petros;
Special friends: Montia (Paw Montia) Francis of Oak Ridge, Miss Maudie Worbington from Greenville, Mississippi, and special caregiver, Delores Huskey;
She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends Saturday, January 31st, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Bro. Arnold Whitehead and Bro. Gary Massengill officiating. A graveside service will be held Sunday, February 1st, at 3:00 p.m. in the Petros Cemetery.
