Mr. James Cecil Hall, 83, also known as J. C. or Cecil, died Saturday evening (August 10, 2013) at Mayo Clinic Health Systems of Waycross after a short illness.

He grew up in Prattville, AL during the latter part of the depression. The tales from his childhood have entertained his family for many years.

He moved from Prattville to Waycross to work with the railroad. Here he found the love of his life … Jackie Colvin. JC was a great pitcher with a fanominal knuckle ball. After being asked to pitch for Blackshear in a very strong rivalry against Patterson, the Blackshear fans passed a hat around to reward the winning pitcher.

Then he was immediately stationed to Thule, Greenland, returned to Waycross to pick up his bride, and moved to Duluth, MN. Then headed south to Alexandria, LA fishing in their Cajun pero boat and having an experience, and then they were off to Frankfurt, Germany for an experience of a lifetime. Memories made in Germany were those that could never be surpassed. Here the family increased by one with a son, Chris. Living in Germany was more fun for them than they ever expected, traveling to several countries in one day, learning the language and culture. Now, all three were on the USS United States, moving to Warner Robins AFB, GA. Three years later was a road-trip to McCoy AFB SAC Unit in Orlando, FL. They fell in love with Central Florida, built a house on a lake and thought that was it. In came orders for JC to have a tour in DaNang AFB Vietnam (1967-68). After surviving many attacks in DaNang, he headed home in 1968. The family loaded up the car for Grissom AFB, Indiana where he ended his career in the Air Force. Through the Air Force years, JC won many awards shooting on the Rifle/Pistol Team and also received the Bronze Star.

They moved back to Central Florida and found a job with none other than Walt Disney World. He was there opening day, where he was the Club House Manager and Golf Pro which was right up his "fairway". He was an avid golfer and had put together many winning golf teams during his Air Force career. After Disney, he had much success in real estate, so he decided to be a pecan farmer and move to Blackshear. He worked with Century 21 in Waycross while establishing his pecan orchard in Hacklebarney. There were many hard working years there and now it was time to truly retire and move to the Okefenokee Country Club. At Okefenokee, he frequented the fairways and fished the ponds. JC was also a member of Jamestown Methodist Church.

JC was the son of the late Estes "Eck" Hall and Daisy Bell Barber Hall. He is preceded in death by a sister, Delene Hall; and a brother, Wendell Hall.

Survivors include his wife, Jacquelyn Hall of Blackshear; one son, Chris Hall (wife Teresa) of Oviedo, FL; two grandchildren, Angela Christine Hall and Christian James Hall; one sister, Carolyn Thorn of Montgomery, AL; one brother, Wayne Hall of Mobile, AL; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday (August 13, 2013) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
