Memoir

"There's an open gate at the end of the road
Through which each must go alone.
And there in a light we cannot see
Our Father claims His own;
Beyond the gate our loved ones find,
Their happiness and rest
And there is comfort in the thought
That a loving God knows best."

To some the summons has come without warning, like a bolt out of a clear sky; to others, as a call to worship, at the close of a perfect day. Some, have left us in their youth, like a flower, blasted by the first chill wind of autumn, the lonely silence, thus, in turn casting a cloud of gloom around us. Others, have gone in the prime of life, with years of usefulness before them. Then, others have gone as a weary traveler who gently lays down his load for rest; and now, another earthly pilgrimage is finished.
Emma Adelia (Leaverton) Morrow was called to her heavenly home at 3:30 o'clock on the afternoon of October 17, 1952, at the age of 89 years, 6 months and 22 days.

The daughter of Samuel and Miriam (Overman) Leaverton, she was born March 25, 1863, near Samantha, Highland County, Ohio, at the Leaverton Homestead. She was sixth in a family of 10 children, all of whom have preceded her in death.

On May 28, 1884 she was united in marriage to James P. Morrow. To this union were born ten children, two who died in infancy and Willard K. Morrow and Mrs. Elva M. Cannon who preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing three sons and three daughters, Mrs. Grace M. Cowman of Greenfield, Stanley R. of Leesburg, Miss Cora M. at home, Howard of Columbus, Homer S. of Sabina, Mrs. Martha M. J Johnson of Leesburg, and 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, who will cherish the memory of a loving mother and grandmother, Emma A. Morrow. Known to her many friends as "Tude" was a devoted wife, a kind and loving mother, always of a quiet unassuming disposition. At the time of her marriage she located in the Fall Creek community. She was a lifelong member of the Fall Creek Presbyterian Church and WCTU changing her membership to the Hillsboro Presbyterian Church two years ago. Her passing was peaceful as she slipped away out of this life into the Great Beyond.

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me,
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea.

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam.
When that which drew from out the boundless deep.
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark;
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark.

For tho' from out our bourne of time and place,
The flood may bear me far.
I hope to see my Pilot fae to face
When I have crossed the bar.
