Wilson--
W.V.R. Wilson was born in Ballard County, Ky., August 20, 1822, and departed this life February 14, 1879. He was married to Martha Samuels in 1849. In Early life he joined the Palestine M.E. Church, South, as a seeker of religion and he developed into a good useful member of the Church. He was a teacher in the Sunday School and a good steward in the Church. He never exalted himself but walked humbly before the Lord. About 1860 he joined the Freemasons at Lovelaceville, Ky., afterward dimited and joined Palestine Lodge.

He was a true Mason, much beloved by his brethren. His neighbor loved him - I never heard anybody say aught against him. But the good man is gone.

He leaves behind him his dear wife, daughter and two sons, two sisters, and many relatives and friends. His house was the Preacher's home and the Lord received a part of his substance annually. The writer was encouraged so much the first Sunday in January, after riding fourteen miles through the cold, doubting his people turning out on that cold day. Thank God Brother Wilson was there, and that was the last time that I heard him pray. His sickness was short. His death was a shock to us all, and so far as we could find out he said nothing about dying. He lived the life of the righteous. At his funeral service the large assembly said with the Masons and family, "His memory we cherish, his body we commit to the grave, his spirit is gone to the paradise of God." The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with the family.
