Letha Archer Rising, 93, longtime Winfield resident, died Feb. 24, 2000, at Winfield Rest Haven.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Evangelical Free Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials have been established with the Evangelical Free Church Building Fund and Hospice Inc. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Rising was born March 27, 1906, in Winfield, to Amanda (Taylor) and Nathaniel Mood Archer. When she was a child, the family moved to Ohio for a short time before returning to Winfield where she attended Winfield High School.
On June 20, 1926, she married Lewis E. Rising. She worked as a nurse's aide for several years at William Newton Memorial Hospital and Good Samaritan Village.
She grew up in the Tisdale community and was a past member of the Tisdale United Methodist Church where she accepted Christ at a revival. She was baptized at Grouse Creek in Dexter. She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Lillian M. Rising Grunwald, two brothers, Dale Archer and Mace Archer, and two sisters, Nadine Peck and Ruth Sparks, all of Winfield; a granddaughter, a great-granddaughter and a great-grandson expected in June.
