Obituary from The Times-News (Twin Falls, ID) - 12 September 2008:
BURLEY - Reva Banner Mitchell returned to her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 10, 2008, as a result of liver disease. Although she had been seriously ill for many years, she had courageously strived to live a rich and fulfilling life.
Reva was born February 18, 1931, in Springdale, to Bertha Chloey Silcock Banner and Leo Elgin Banner. She grew up in the Springdale and View area. She attended grade school in Burley and Springdale and Burley Junior High and High School. Since her marriage, she has resided in Burley for 58 years.
She married Howard C. Mitchell on November 3, 1950, in Burley, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Ward Junior Sunday School and as Stake Junior Sunday School Coordinator for many years. She also served as Ward Relief Society president, on the Service and Activities Committee, and other callings.
She worked for Leona Carlson at Leona's Day Care and Kindergarten, at Cassia National Bank, Bank of Idaho, and First Interstate Bank. After her retirement, she worked part time at the county treasurer's office. She enjoyed so much the many years she was a member of the Cameo Book Club, and her association with her quilting group. Her most important and cherished work was as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Howard C. Mitchell of Burley; her children, Diane (Steven) Fullmer of Blackfoot, Carolyn (Gary) Laird of Ogden, Utah, Marilyn (Kent) Searle of View and Reese (Kathy) Mitchell of Lehi, Utah; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Samuel H. (Jeri) Banner of Brigham City, Utah, Curtis R. (Mary Lou) Banner of Roseville, Calif., Melvin B. (Charlene) Banner of Bountiful, Utah, and Seth N. (Pat) Banner of Taylorsville, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Elgin and Golden Banner; and two sisters, Faye Banner and Ora Whittaker.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15, at the Burley LDS West Stake Center, 2420 Parke Ave., with Bishop Michael A. Larsen officiating. Burial will be in the View Cemetery.
