Gertrude was the only child of John C. Arend and Bertha (Palmer) Arend (later Rankey, Warner), born 25 Nov 1904 and died 07 Jul 1978 in Delhi Twp., Holt, Ingham, MI, USA.
Gertrude's father died when she was six, and her mother Bertha remarried twice, first to Joseph D. Rankey, 2nd to Warren Carl Warner. Her siblings:
