Mrs. Melissa Nelson, 65, a resident here the last five years, died Saturday at her home, 514 ½ Main street, after what Dr. Harmon E. Rider, coroner, said was a heart attack.
Mrs. Nelson was born January 7, 1883, in Union County, S.D., and resided several years in Vermillion, S.D. before coming to Sioux City. She was a member of the Evangelical church in Vermillion.
Her husband Carl J. Died 14 years ago in Union county. A daughter also preceded her in death.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Selma Papajohn and Mrs. Elsie Thorson of Sioux City; Miss Myrtle Nelson of Fairmont, Minn., and Mrs. Alma Russell of Gruver, Tex.; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister Mrs. Clara Boetger of Sioux City, and five brothers, John Peterson of Madison, S.D.; Ole of Alcester, S.D.; Ira and Carl of Elk Point and Oliver in Oregon.
The body was taken to the Nelson-Berger funeral home [Sioux City, Iowa].
Funeral services for Mrs. Melissa Nelson, 65, 514 ½ Main street, who died Saturday at her home after a heart attack, will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Trinity Lutheran church in Vermillion, S.D. Rev .A. Roseland will officiate. Burial will be in Bluff View cemetery at Vermillion under direction of the Nelson-Berger funeral home.
