d/o Ernest Blaine Drake, Eva Malissa Flynn

Lillian Edna Drake was born February 13, 1916 in her parents' house just outside the Hendersonville city limits.

Lillian graduated from Flat Rock High School in 1934. In 1939 she married Elliot Cecil Stepp. In 1948 when her father Ernest Blaine Drake died, Lil and Cecil took over the operation of his small grocery store and Texaco Gas Station at the corner of Willow Road and Lakeside Drive. They operated the store from 1947 to 1968.

When her mother, Eva Flynn Drake developed dementia in 1968, Lil closed the store to become a full time caregiver for her mother until she died in 1974. She then, almost immediately, became the full time caregiver for her 74 year old husband, who also suffered from both mental and physical issues until he died in 1982.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was pre-deceased by all of her siblings and their spouses: Carroll Drake and wife Lilly Bell, Richmond (Bub) Drake and wife Margaret, Vincent (Vince) Drake and wife Emily, Robert Drake, and Wilsie Drake Staton and husband Rudolph (Rudy). She was also pre-deceased by three nephews and a niece.
