David L. Saunders, 71, formerly of Hampton NH, died May 16, 2013, in Derry NH. David was born in Medford MA on Aug. 5, 1941, to James and Anna (Garrity) Saunders.

A 1960 graduate of Pinkerton Academy in Derry, he held an Athletic Letter for Basketball and was named Time Magazine's 24th Annual Current Affairs Winner. After graduation he worked in banking until his entry into the U.S. Army, serving as a SP4. After his Honorable Discharge he served in the Army Reserves. David's last and longest employment was with Rockingham Park in Salem NH. He held many past memberships in community organizations.

David leaves his sister Anna (Saunders) and husband Edward Mele, Jr., and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents; brothers James, John, and Thomas; and wife Lillian (Carter) Saunders.

After cremation, a calling hour will be held on Thursday, May 23, at 9 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Center, Derry, with a liturgy of Christian burial to follow at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
