Brack
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Wittig) Brack died at the home of her granddaughter Mrs. Paul Radke, Friday February 18 at 1 o'clock p.m., at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 13 days. Her death was due to a gradual decline in health on account of her advanced age.

Mary Elizabeth Wittig was born in Russia in 1850 and while living in that country was united in marriage to Philip A. Brack. Mr. and Mrs. Brack and children migrated to America with a number of relatives and friends in 1876, the party arriving in Pawnee Rock and from there coming north to locate homesteads in the Albert and Ochs neighborhoods. Mr. Brack and family located on a homestead north of Otis where they lived for many years. Mr. Brack died ten years ago and since that time Mrs. Brack made her home most of the time with her son, John E. and since last April made her home with her granddaughter, Mrs. Radke.

Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Brack, nine of whom preceded the mother to the other world, the one surviving child being John E. Brack of Hoisington. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Conrad Steitz, Sr., of Otis and a number of relatives and a host of friends who mourn her death.

Mrs. Brack was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church and lived a true Christian life. Funeral services were held at the Hoisington Lutheran Church, Sunday at 1:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. C. Zehnder and interment was made in the cemetery, 1 1/2 miles north of Otis. - Courtesy of Hoisington Dispatch
