Ida, the second of eight children, married William Daniel "Danny" Hood, 15 May 1917 in Phelps, MO when she was 16 years old. They had 3 sons and one daughter.

After Ida died 26 Nov 1945, Thomas married Ida's younger sister, Janette Ruth Borders, who had been a nun. They had 2 children, David Henry and Donna.
