Robert Earl Butterfield, 60, of Dartmouth died August 29, 2005 at New England Medical Center after a long courageous battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome.
He was the husband of Sally A. (Freeman) Butterfield.

Born and raised in Newburyport, MA, the son of Dorothy (Blaisdell) Butterfield of Sandown, NH, and the late Earl Butterfield, he lived in Forest Park, Ohio and Dartmouth for most of his life.

He was a long time former member of the Central Congregational Church in Newburyport.

Mr. Butterfield was formerly employed as a middle school teacher for many years before becoming a restaurant manager.

He and his friends regularly met for coffee at the McDonald's on Dartmouth St. in Dartmouth. He was a collector of historical war games.

Survivors include his wife; his mother; a son, Robert E. Butterfield and his wife Julie of Delaware; a daughter, Miranda C. Chapman and her husband Jacob of Bradford, R.I.; a brother David Butterfield of Dover, NH; a sister Judith Stanley of Sandown, NH; 2 aunts, Marjorie Prideaux of California and Joan Blaisdell of Newburyport, MA; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Graveside Service in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Newburyport, MA Saturday, September 3rd at 11 AM.
