ARLIE RICHARD ABEL

ABEL, ARLIE RICHARD age 93 of Warrior, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 28th, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 1st, 1919 in Nyota, AL to Lon and Roxie Abel. On December 12th, 1941 he married the love of his life Lucille. They were married 65 years before she passed away on April 15th, 2007. Daddy was a World War II veteran that served in the U.S. Army in Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. He was retired from U.S. Steel and was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 61 years. He attended Sardis Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucille (Lucy); sisters, Lillie Cates, Lena Daniels, Ruby Lippert, Ruthie Wisniewski, and Margie Davis. He is survived by his children; Doris and Jerome Loggins, James and Gennie Abel, Dorothy and Larry Wilson; four grandchildren, Kayreen and Chris Crawford of Colorado, Jada and Curtis Rogers, Kevin and Amy Wilson, and Laura Wilson; seven great grandchildren; Jaimie and Megan Crawford, Sara Jake, Seth and Lizzie Rogers, and Devin Wilson; one sister, Gena Riddings. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 1st between 5:00 and 8:00 pm at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral will be on Thursday, May 2nd at 11:00 am at the funeral home with burial following at Liberty Minter Cemetery. Bro. Harlen Harris officiating.
