Born just outside of Jacksonville, Mississippi to Share Croppers Marcus and Ollie (Carr) on February 17, 1928, Chessie was raised and educated in Mississippi where he graduated from high school and Louisiana.
Not long after his graduation from high school Chessie joined the armed forces serving in the U.S. Navy as a crewman on a PT boat. Following his honorable discharge he relocated to the Northeastern California Community of Quincy where he began what became a fifty year career with the railroad working for both Union Pacific and Western Pacific Railroads where he was employed as a heavy equipment operator.
Chessie had a great love of the outdoors and especially enjoyed the sport of hunting and fishing. He found solace working in his garden and raising his chickens, sharing his famous spotted eggs with his neighbors and friends. He and his wife enjoyed to square dance together. Chessie is a former member of the Quincy Elks Lodge as well as Plumas Lodge #60 F.&A.M..
In passing Chessie leaves his loving wife and best friend for close to sixty years,; Virginia Bozeman of Quincy, son; Clint Bozeman and his wife Charolette of Puyallup, WA, daughter; Carolyn Gayton and her husband John of Lincoln, CA, his precious grandchildren; Keith, Rachael, Jennifer and Richard, six great grandchildren along with brothers; Ralph Bozeman of Quincy, Benny Bozeman and Marion Bozeman both of Sacramento, CA.
Chessie joins his three brothers and one sister in their eternal home.
