DEATH BRINGS RELIEF TO MRS. JULIETTE C. ADAMS

More than three years of illness and suffering by Mrs. Juliette C. Adams, beloved mother of a large family of grown children including Bishop Adams of this Ward, terminated on Friday evening of last week in her death at the family residence. High blood pressure and finally cerebral hemmorage were assigned as the cause of death which came not unexpectedly and therefore found all the members of her family by her side, ministering to her every want, and doing all that loving children could do.

Though she partially recovered from the very serious illness of three years ago last May she was never well again, and for the last two months she was confined to her bed. Always ambitious and of an independent disposition she never waited for help to do those things which were necessary, in or out of the house, and the enforced inactivity which came with her sickness made it doubly hard to bear.

Mrs. Adams was born in this community on December 10th, 1859, the daughter of Herman D. Bayles and Anna Neilson Bayles who were among the pioneers to this place. Reared as were all children of those early pioneers under somewhat primitive conditions she grew to womanhood and on March 6th, 1877, in the St. George temple she became the wife of Hugh Leech Adams. His death about twenty years ago left her to finish rearing the eight survivors of the ten children which had been born to them. How well she succeeded is evidenced by the sturdiness, the strength of character and the integrity of that family of three boys and five girls, all of whome except two are not married and have fmily responsibilities of their own.

Besides her three sons, Hugh L. and Albert who live here, Roy whose home is in Enterprise, and five daughter, Mrs. Albert Hold and Mrs. Joseph Hold of Enterprise, Mrs Keith A. Dodge of Guild, Idaho and the Misses Anna T. and Eve Adams who live here, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. J.A. --unreadable-- of Provo and Miss Anna M. Bayles whose home is here, two half brothers, Herman D. and John Bayles, and three half sisters, Mrs. Mary L. Orton, Mrs. Orpha A. Decker, and Mrs. Parely Burt.

Mrs. Adams was prominent in the church and civic affairs. For several years she was president of the Relief Society, and a very successful president, too. She was also a pratical nurse and midwife, having taken care of upwards of three hundred babies. In her passing the community lost one of its most noble and useful women and its sympathy goes out to the bereaved ones.

Impressive funeral services were held for her on Sunday afternoon at which Walter C. Mitchell, G.T. Topham, Mary M. Marden, Annie Gurr, Henry W. Lunt and Wm. R. Palmer were the speakers.
