On November 18th 1921 in Barbourville, Knox County, Kentucky, Campbell married Eva Davis. They were married by Judge J.D. Fugle in the county Courthouse. The wedding attendants were R.D. Davis and William Johnson.

In the Adams bible Campbell wrote "Were married in the courthouse by the county judge. Stayed one night in the Black Stone Hotel and went home the next day to start life for ourselfs."

Campbell and his family moved from Kentucky to Indianapolis, Indiana shortly after the birth of their son Paul David.
