Marjorie grew up in Holly Ridge, Louisiana and graduated from Rayville High School. She graduated from Northwestern College (Normal) and taught school in Bastrop, Louisiana for 3 years. Deciding this would not be her life's work, Marjorie began working for Sun Pipeline in Delhi and later transferred to Sun's office in Lafayette. In 1961 Marjorie left Sun Pipe Line to register at LSU where she received a Masters Degree in Social Welfare. From there she went to the Monroe Welfare Department for a short time and transferred to the Richland Parish Welfare Department. She retired in 1983 after having served as Director of Welfare Services in Richland Parish.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents-Archie & Agnes Holloway; sisters-Agnes Strong Tatum, and Carol Holloway; brother-Wendell Holloway (Patsy); nephews W. L. Strong, Jr. (Myrna), and Lester Germany.
She is survived by nieces Fay Strong Southern (Willie Ray), Stephanie Foster (Robert), Donna Germany, and nephews Wendell Holloway, Jr. (Cynthia), David Holloway (Patti) and by 12 Great nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed keeping up with the activities of all of her family and loved family gatherings. She was loved and respected by her family and friends and she will be missed by them all.
An intelligent and resourceful lady, Marjorie enjoyed her retirement years with community and church activities. To name a few - The Council on Aging, Saints Alive, teaching Bible Studies to her Church Circle at the Rayville Methodist Church. The Holly Ridge Methodist Church was a very important part of her life. She served as Treasurer at the church for many years. In the early years of retirement Marjorie traveled to such places as Alaska, Australia, and numerous places across the United States.
Visitation will be at Friday, October 19 from 5 - 7 PM. at the Funeral home.
