CORBIN — Letch "Bud" Cole departed this world on July 13, 2013, at the age of 75, at his home in Lily.

Mr. Cole lived a life full of love for his family, pets, and his hometown of Lily, which he referred to as the garden spot of the world. Always able to appreciate the small things in life, Mr. Cole treasured greeting cards, sitting by the river, homegrown tomatoes, milk, and popcorn. He was known to say that he couldn't sleep knowing there was cold milk in the refrigerator. Before duct tape was popular, Mr. Cole was a prolific user – taping fenders on cars, repairing glasses, and fixing his transistor radio which still works after 40+ years.

He taught his grandchildren to appreciate the outdoors by creating an "enchanted forest" on his property and considered it one of his life's missions to eradicate poison ivy from his enchanted forest so that his family could enjoy a walk on the trail.

Mr. Cole was preceded in death by his father, Letch Cole, and his mother, Amanda Cole Steward. He leaves on this earth many family members and friends, including his wife, Linda Cole; two children: Chadd Cole and Kelli Moore (Allen); three grandchildren: Cole, Matt, and Sydnee Moore; one stepson, Donald Bruce (Cathy); two step-grandchildren: Kelly and Emily Bruce; two brothers: Bob Cole and Bill Cole (Katherine) of Lily; and two sisters: Sue Sparks and Bonnie Cole Hall, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A U.S. Army veteran, he proudly served his country, much of his tenure in Germany.

He was led to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by his grandson, Matt, and Mr. Cole now resides in heaven with his Savior. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, in the Hart Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Cole officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery with military rites by the D.A.V. Chapters 158 & 66. Pallbearers will be Rob Cole, Matthew Stansbury, Rick Cole, Bill Cole, Marty Sparks, Don Bruce, and Derrick Cole.

The family of Bud Cole will receive friends from noon until the funeral hour at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hart Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
