Hastings resident Verna Eleanore (Boden) Albers, 76, of 711 Circle A died Saturday, Oct. 26, 1996, at her home. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Brand-Wilson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Leroy Albers officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Albers was born July 24, 1920, to John and Ella (Schmidt) Boden in Sterling. On July 17, 1936, he married Elwyn "Hienie" Albers. They moved to Hastings in 1938. Her husband died Dec. 1, 1989. She worked at Dale's Cafe, Dalton's Cafe and the Eagles. She also worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot from 1945-52. She was a member of Eagles Lodge No. 592 Auxiliary. Survivors are one daughter, Joyce "Babe" Portz of Kansas City, Mo.; one son, Eldon of Hastings; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by three brothers, two of which were infants, and one grandchild. Memorials may be given to the family.
