Mr. Reed had been a local area resident since 1936. He was a graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School and retired from Piggly Wiggly Corporation. He was a member of Holland Avenue Baptist Church, the Winsome Sunday School Class and the Thursday Morning Bible Study Group. Mr. Reed was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and a recipient of the World War II Victory Medal. He served aboard six battleships, including the U.S.S. North Carolina.
