Mr. Reed, widower of Kathryn F. Reed, died July 22, 2002. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Rev. Jacob Hydrick and Inez Mae Harmon Reed. Mr. Reed had been a local area resident since 1936. He was a graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School and retired from Piggly Wiggly Corporation. He was a member of Holland Avenue Baptist Church, the Winsome Sunday School Class and the Thursday Morning Bible Study Group. Mr. Reed was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and a recipient of the World War II Victory Medal. He served aboard six battleships, including the U.S.S. North Carolina.
