ELKIN, NC ~ Mrs. Eva Adams Simmons, 74, of N. Elkin Drive passed away Monday, March 22, 2004, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

She was born April 23, 1929 in Yadkin County to the late Arthur Edward and Thursie Alley Adams.

Mrs. Simmons was a beloved mother and homemaker and worked for several years as a nurse with Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital and North Carolina Baptist Hospital.

She enjoyed working and being active with the Girl Scouts for 15 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Lee Simmons, on Feb. 4, 2004; and by two brothers: Wes Adams and Carlton Adams.

Surviving are her two daughters: Jody Simmons and husband Ranier Kern of Winston-Salem, and Jan Foster and Chuck of Mooresville; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Danelle Marklin; four sisters: Helen Bullin, Faye Flynn, Bobbie Hershey and Lydia Logan; and two brothers: Arthur Adams Jr. and Bill Adams.

Her funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 25, at the Gentry Family Chapel by the Rev. Bill Hale. Burial will follow in the Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, March 24, at Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
