Johnnie Mae Barge Mayfield, 91, Tyrone, Georgia, died Nov. 17, 2002. She was born December 12, 1910 in Fayette County, the daughter of Joseph Lewis and Lucy Slaton Barge. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Alvene Grantham.
Survivors include her husband, Alvin Mayfield, Tyrone; sons, McKay (Glenda) Mayfield, Rabun Gap, GA, Murray (Connie) Mayfield, Palmetto, GA, and Larry (Donna) Mayfield, Fayetteville, GA; a daughter, Joan (Milton) Adams, Peachtree City, GA; a sister, LaRue Doyal, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Marilyn Craigmyle, Ken Grantham, Cathy Brown, John Adams, Beth Shell, Mae Mayfield, Lori Carter, Scott Gumerson, Julie Mayfield, April West, Kenneth Marshburn, Denise Shelnutt, Lt. Richard Marshburn, Shelby Reese; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Marlene Pendergrass.
Services were at Parrott Funeral Home chapel, Fairburn, GA, with Rev. Dr. Rick Long and Rev. Dr. Ed Nelson officiating. Interment at Hopewell United Methodist Church cemetery.
