She was preceded in death by her first husband, Victor Bonham; her second husband, Garnie Carter; three sisters, Dora Walton, Jincy Barker and Mattie Blevins; and two brothers, Lee and Fielden Comer.
Born April 12, 1901, in Troutdale, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary York Comer. Mrs. Carter was a homemaker.
Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Adkins of Lanark, WV; three grandchildren, Bob Simmons and wife Georgia of Columbus, OH, Judith Walton of Abingdon, and Vickie Guthrie and husband James of Clinton, MD; five great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held on 18 December from the Williams-Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Sophia, WV, with the Rev. Danny Hughes officiating.
