Rodney, a Webster City crop-spraying pilot, was instantly killed when his single-engine light plane crashed in a soybean field located about 8 miles northeast of Webster City. Rodney, son of Carl L. and Gwyn V. Latch Ruhl, was reared and educated in the Blairsburg community, graduating from Northeast Hamilton in 1963. He attended the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Okla., being graduated in 1966. He was united in marriage Oct. 17, 1965, To Martha Brown.
Follow his graduation, he was employed in Oklahoma, prior to moving to waterloo where he was employed by the Neider-Hauser Airways as an A. & P. mechanic. He was later employed by the Fort Dodge Flying Service.
Upon returning to Webster City, he achieved the following FAA ratings; private pilot's license; authorized inspector; commercial pilot license; instructor's license; and federal aerial spraying license. He had curently owned and operated Rod's Aerial Service.
He is survived by his wife, Martha; by two daughters, Karla Ann and Ronda Lee; his parents of Blairsburg; one sister and two brothers, Sharon Hetland, Webster City, Jerold Ruhl of Webster City and David Ruhl of Blairsburg.
