Margaret Keizia Jones (Kizzie) was my Great-Grandmother on my maternal side of the family. She was born in October 1850 to William Lewis Jones and Eliza Sullivan Jones. Margaret Keizia Jones had seven known siblings. They were all raised in the Baptist church faith; her father later became a minister of this faith. The family moved to Alabama and Margaret Kezia Jones married William M. Cain July 10, 1869 In Alabama. They had a daughter Geneava J. Cain Jaton. Family records state William M. Cain was killed for gambling money in 1877, but so far I have not found records to back it, but will continue to look.On March 23, 1879 Margaret married my Great- Grandfather John Abner Chappell in Fayette County, Alabama. John was a farmer, Baptist faith and spent two years out of four in the Civil War as a prisoner. Together they had six children including my maternal Grandmother, Willie Mae Chappell Born February 02, 1886 in Hillsboro, Texas. Her other siblings born to Margaret and John were Fred, Essie, Lulu, John and Charles Bradley Chappell. The family moved from Alabama to Texas and later settled in Oklahoma. John continued to farm and Margaret keeping house and tending to all the children. John Abner Chappell passed away May 25,1896 in Lebanon, Marshall County, Texas. 1900 Census shows Kizzie married to Aberham (Abe) Overstreet living in Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory, which is now Oklahoma with their young son James T Overstreet and Lulu, Wille Maye, John, Charles and Essie Chappell. According to my Grandmother her & her siblings where not fond of their step-father. She referred to him as “Mean Abe.” Margaret Kezia Sullivan Overstreet passed away April 29, 1907 in Chickasaw, Oklahoma and is buried at the Enville Cemetery, Enville, Love County Texas. Her husband Abe passed away in 1940 and is buried at Pecan Grove, Cemetery, Texas.
